Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes this fundraising program different from other programs?

A: Most other programs involve the selling of goods door-to-door to third parties, with very little direct benefit to the student or their family. This program is designed to build the student’s self-confidence, while providing parents with a memento of their child’s art, that they can share with family and friends (in the form of a special greeting card).

Q: What is the Cards by Me Flexible pricing model? Why is it so important?

A: In most cases, the Cards by Me Optimal Pricing Structure (selling price: $20) ensures the best opportunity to maximize profits. However, in some school areas, parents may be willing to pay more for the ability to see their child’s artwork commercially produced. In these cases, you have the ability to increase profit potential further by increasing the selling price. Just speak to us about customizing a pricing model.

Q: Is there any direct selling required on behalf of our students, or their families?

A: No - This program simply provides students (and their immediate families) the opportunity to purchase commercially printed greeting cards of their (child’s) artwork.

Q: How do we get started with the administration of this fundraising program?

A: Cards by Me has developed a very detailed set of procedures designed to minimize the administrative workload on you and your fundraising committee. Furthermore, Cards by Me provides the necessary materials to run this fundraiser including:

Blank Art Sheets - 8.5”x11”

10”x13” Gusset Envelopes

Labels

Order Forms

Tip Sheets

Schedule (timeline)

Tracking Sheets

Promotional Posters (specially prepared for each school)

Q: When is the final commitment (to participate) required on the part of the school?

A: It is imperative that Cards by Me allows for sufficient time to print and deliver 100% of the cards in plenty of time for mailing (especially for the holiday season programs). Sufficient lead times are also necessary to ensure optimal response (thus maximizing fundraising revenues). We ask that a commitment be made as soon as possible, but in any event, no later than six weeks prior to planning for a particular event/holiday (i.e. Valentines Day, Christmas). This will provide the necessary time to develop and print unique materials specific to your school (highlighting your fundraising objectives). Note however, that at the time of agreement, a $250 cancellation fee will be levied if for any reason the program is cancelled following shipment of supplies.

Q: How do the payment procedures work?

A: The Order Form (created and printed by Cards by Me) is distributed by the school via the student’s “take home envelope”. The Order Form directs parents to remit payment, either cheque or cash - in the amount that the fundraising committee chooses (all taxes included) back to the school via the students. The cheques from the parents are payable to the school. The teachers will be responsible for delivering all payment (cash and cheques) to the school office, complete with a class list of students participating in the program. The school’s administrative office remits payment via one consolidated cheque made payable to Promotional Systems (Cards by Me).

Q: What happens if a student’s parents elect not to participate in this year’s program?

A: Cards by Me believes that a student’s self-confidence is enhanced by developing and creating pieces of art. The merits of this program are so strong that it is endorsed by the Ontario College of Art & Design - Faculty of Design. Regardless of whether a parent purchases a set of greeting cards - the student keeps their original piece of art.
